What a great read, man! Being someone who finds myself continually exhausted with political soldiers of either encampments (and in a lot of ways the encampments more generally), acutely skeptical of powerful institutions, but also deeply appreciative of the innumerable traditions we have carried with us for millennia, and for contemporary democracy (with it's many flaws), I find this speaks to me a lot haha

Thanks! There’s so much to learn and understand, I’m doing the best I can! Looking forward to reading some of what you’ve written about Abrahamic religious traditions

Thanks, I’m glad to hear that! I’m enjoying your newsletter as well. I’m not a historian or anything just someone very interested in our collective past and traditions, but the more I learn the more I wonder about how our very necessary struggle for progress interacts with the many traditions that have come down through our ancestors, and this essay was my attempt to understand that in some level. Thanks for reading:)

Well, from a historian's perspective, I think this was a great job, for what it's worth!

I really like the hand-cutting scene, using the blood to fertilize the nascent plants in the ground. Nicely done!

Thanks! Had fun doing a little fiction in there:)

It's kinda fun to use fiction to help people understand reality. It's tricky sometimes, but super duper useful when done right. I think this was done right!
